Listen to Obituary

Jan passed away on Oct. 25 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper following an extended illness.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1948 in Ainsworth, NE to Clarence and Lola Davis. She graduated from Ainsworth High School.

On May 24, 1966, she married Joe Dillon in Pierre, SD. Three children were born to this union, and the family moved several times with Joe’s employment.

The Dillons settled in Glenrock in 1979. Jan was a homemaker (with brief stints at Ole’s Classic Pizza and delivering newspapers) until her children were raised. She then embarked on a career in law enforcement, first as a dispatcher for the Glenrock Police Department, and then as a records clerk with the Converse County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the death of her husband in 2017, she retired to her rural Glenrock home and spent the following years watching reruns of Gunsmoke, fashioning diamond dot artwork, reading, and chatting on the phone with family.

She is survived by a sister, Betty Stewart, and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Davis, both of Ainsworth; a daughter, Sarah (Randy) Stalker of Glenrock; two sons, Matthew (Jyll) Dillon of Yukon, OK, and Daniel (Angela) Dillon of Delta Junction, AK; three grandsons, Jacob and Trevor Latimore of Casper, and Caleb Dillon of Delta Junction; a granddaughter, Roslyn Dillon of Delta Junction; a great granddaughter, Stella Valerie Latimore of Casper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Evelyn Monk; and two brothers, Ralph and Raymond Davis.
