Jeanette Ann Carey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at Central Wyoming Hospice. Born on April 18, 1943, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Jeanette was a woman of profound strength and unwavering love.
Throughout her life, Jeanette dedicated herself to her family and career. She initially worked at an accounting firm finishing her 25-year career as an Administrator at Wyoming State Training School. Her commitment to education was evident when she returned to school for her Associates Degree in Accounting at Central Wyoming Community College after her children were old enough. This accomplishment stood among her proudest achievements, along with her successful career and her remarkable ability to decoratively transform her home into a festive wonderland each Christmas with elaborate Department 56 Christmas Villages.
Jeanette created cherished memories with her family through various activities, including memorable trips to Deadwood, attending auctions and antiquing, and hosting delightful Victorian tea parties. She took joy in recreating her mother’s Angel Food Cake and Seven Minute Frosting, and she loved attending University of Wyoming and Denver football games. Her stories about childhood delighted everyone, especially her grandchildren, who eagerly listened to her read Raggedy Ann Doll stories.
She was an enthusiastic sports fan, passionately cheering for her favorite teams: the Denver Nuggets, Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Buffalo Bills, and Atlanta Braves. Her love extended to her cherished pets—Martha, Elizabeth, Bronco, Juliette, Mindy, Brandy, and her beloved Cecil. Jeanette also valued her friendship with Deanna, with whom she spent many joyful moments.
Jeanette is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cheryl (Brian Swan) Carey and Charlene (Richard) Rodgers, as well as her sisters, Glenna Brugg and Sally Giesbrecht. She took great pride in her grandchildren: Chad Rodgers, Courtney Finley, Danielle Sisson, Lindsey Verley, Tristin Hecht, Rianna Swan, Chandler Carey, Erica Rude, and Logan Carey. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Clements, Jordan Finley, Justin Finley, Serenity Sisson, Sondrena Carey, Tagen Rodgers, Ethan Verley, Adicuss Anderson, Blake Sisson, Zabie Anderson, Jayden Finley, Lucas Sisson, Kayson Clements, Hendrix Anderson, Maddox Hecht, Zephyr Anderson, Benny Sisson, and Lylliana Verly, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Kash Garbett.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Glenrose Wetherby; her husband, Kenneth Carey; her son, Shane Carey; and her grandson, Zachary Clements.
A Funeral Service to honor Jeanette's life will be held on April 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to come together, celebrate her life, and share in the memories that will forever keep her spirit alive in their hearts.
