Jens Peter Jensen

Jens Peter Jensen was born September 30th of 1949 in Lusk Wyoming to parents Valasta and Earl Jensen. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 29th at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper Wyoming.

After graduating high school in Lusk, Jens moved to Newcastle some time after that for work. While living in Newcastle, he met his loving wife Matilda in 1971 and they were married on November 9, 1972. Jens and Matilda moved to Glenrock in 1977 where he worked at Bear Creek Uranium until they closed operations. He worked a bit for Rissler McMurry until he ended up landing at C&Y Transportation for 20 plus years where he retired in January, 2019.

Jens is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Matilda. His two children Ron Jensen and Shelly (Russ) Dalgarn of Glenrock, his grandchildren Destiny (Erick) Holden of Casper, Charles (Rachel) Whalen of Glenrock, and Shyla Whalen (Eliott Kenfield) of Glenrock. His precious great grandchildren Marie, Madalynn, and Maddison Holden of Casper, and Emma, Elizabeth, and Ezekiel Whalen of Glenrock. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, several siblings, grandparents, nephews, and aunts and uncles.

Jens had a strong and deep love for the Lord. He was active in the church community and Promise Keepers. Jens was a quiet man who loved spending time with his family. He loved black powder shooting, mountain man rendezvous, and spending time with the people who meant the most to him. He and Matilda filled their lives with endless love and joy. Jens had a very active role in his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. He never missed a sporting event or concert, faithfully showing up to support all of the kids in any way he could. A constant pillar of support, kindness, and generosity. Above all, Jens loved and supported his family fiercely and proudly.
