Jerry L. Leslie, 82, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, due to pneumonia. It was his name, Jerry Lee, that drew people to him, as he was named after Jerry Lee Lewis.
He attended Willard Elementary School and Natrona County High School and then enlisted in the Navy. His Aunt Hazel Anderson raised him when he was a toddler till 5 years old, when he had to go to school and to be with his mother, dad, sister, and brother.
Following his Naval discharge he settled in the Los Angeles area, working at LAX as an airline mechanic for Western Airlines. This is where he met Carol, and they were married September 20, 1969, til his death. On March 3, 1973, they had a boy, Sean, and he was their pride and joy. In fall of 1974, they moved to Casper, where they have lived ever since.
While Sean was growing up, he joined the Boy Scouts of America. Jerry became very active in the organization as a Scout leader. Together, Sean earned his Eagle Scout badge, and Jerry was so proud of him that he couldn't stop boasting to everyone. Jerry was also a life member of Elks Lodge No.1353, the Eagles, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
During the time in Casper, Jerry drove long-haul trucking. Following that, he worked as a pipefitter for Local I93, traveling to places in Wyoming, South Dakota, and Montana. He also worked as a maintenance and building support person for Wyoming Behavioral Institute, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation. He retired in September of 2015.
Jerry was a good man and someone who has touched the lives of everyone he encountered in an indelible way.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Sean; grandchildren, Tristan, Gillean, Ilysa, and Nathan; he also had two great-grandchildren, Avenna of Tennessee and Aayden of Colorado; his has a sister, Dixie Ford of Casper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Ruth Leslie, and brother, Guy Ray Leslie.
A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, followed by burial at Wyoming Memorial Gardens and a reception luncheon at Saint Anthony's after the committal service.
For those in attendance please wear bright, and colorful clothing.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to an account established in Jerry's name at Hilltop National Bank.
