LuAnn Miller entered her eternal life on a beautiful summer morning on August 19, 2025. She was surrounded by family for the entire 10 days prior while she at Banner Wyoming Medical Center related to a fall and a complicated medical history. She received the best care while hospitalized and the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, CNAs and doctors that took exceptional care of her.
LuAnn Catherine Freeman was born on September 19, 1956 to Robert and Jean Freeman and big sister, Linda in Casper, WY. She attended Pineview Elementary, East Junior High and Kelly Walsh High School, graduating in 1975. She enjoyed cheerleading at East and Kelly Walsh and would impress everyone with her ability to do the splits on command, especially her daughters. She attended Casper College briefly and later transferred to the University of Wyoming. She was a member of the Natrona County 4H Club for many years, as well as Job’s Daughters Bethel #41.
Throughout her childhood, LuAnn and her family spent a large amount of time at the family ranch on the Cheyenne River near Lusk. There are many family stories of LuAnn and Linda helping with ranch chores, such as branding, docking and shearing sheep with their Christensen cousins. Later on, LuAnn and long-time best friend Jo Hawthorne, along with cousins Tom and Bill, found fun with dancing in town and drinking tequila sunrises.
On the Freeman side of the family, cousin fun included camping, fishing, boating, skiing and sage chicken hunting.
In 1982, LuAnn joined Linda in Elko, NV and began working in the gold mines. This is where she met Don Miller. They married in 1983 and settled in Carlin, NV. In 1986, Lindsey Ann was born and later in 1988, Andrea Dawn was born. LuAnn’s greatest joy was staying home with her daughters.
In 1992, LuAnn moved back to her hometown of Casper with her daughters. She returned to college to complete a degree in social work. She continued her education at Casper College and later received a master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver. She got a job at Central Wyoming Counseling Center and worked in the schools as a counselor. She thoroughly enjoyed this work and formed many special relationships. In the mid 2000s, due to health issues, she stopped working.
LuAnn found great joy in gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers. She looked forward to every spring when she could fill the old bathtub on her front porch with petunias. Other joys included going to the club (Sam’s Club), caring for her many wonderful dogs and spending summer days at Alcova Lake. She loved to kayak and play Upwords while drinking Piña Coladas with her mom at the lake and mountain cabins.
The most favorite time in her life was as a gramma and it started with Emily when Lindsey and Jeff married in 2012. Hudson came along in 2013, Sawyer in 2015 and Kobi in 2021. She loved being a gramma and spoiled them any chance she got.
LuAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Jean Freeman, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her daughters, Lindsey Eidsness and Andi Miller; sons-in-law, Jeff Eidsness and Matt Cronk; grandkids, Emily Cardenas, Hudson and Sawyer Eidsness, and Kobi Miller; her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Chuck Becker; her Uncle Russ Christensen and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 11am at First United Methodist Church at 332 E 2nd St in Casper. A light lunch will be provided. Please wear bright colors or floral prints in honor of LuAnn!
