Surrounded by her family, Mary Calhoun Cross Duggan, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, just days before her 90th birthday.
Born in North Platte, Nebraska, to Harvey and Bernice Calhoun, Mary arrived five minutes after her twin sister, Marcia (Marty) Lee. The family moved to San Jose, California, where Mary spent her childhood and formed many treasured memories. She shared a special bond with her stepfather, Norman Andrew "Slim" Streeks, whose love, guidance, and steady presence were among the greatest blessings of her life.
Mary graduated from Willow Glen High School and married Dick Cross on December 4, 1954. Together they embraced the beauty and adventure of California life, from the Pacific Ocean to the Sierra Nevada mountains. They made life-long friends with whom they shared many great memories. They moved to Wyoming where they enjoyed Casper Mountain, the Big Horns, and the North Platte River. Later, Mary married Jerry Duggan. They enjoyed touring Ireland, California wineries, and supporting the Gilroy Garlic Festival.
Mary approached life with enthusiasm and a sense of fun. She loved chocolates, cocktails, oysters, shopping on HSN, and discovering new places. Her travels took her to Ireland, Greece, Mexico, and destinations throughout the United States. She delighted in spending time with friends, enjoying good food that she often cooked, dancing, and attending live theater and musical performances. Among her favorite entertainers was the legendary Johnny Mathis, whose music brought her great joy.
Mary left her heart in San Francisco. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, twin sister, husbands, and her cherished West Highland Terrier, Mick.
She is survived by her daughters, Teri and Judy; son-in-law, Ken Barbe, grandson, Dan; brother-in-law, Delbert Godfrey and his children, dear friend, Joe Mosley; and many friends whose lives were enriched by her generosity, humor, and friendship. In her generous spirit, her body was donated for medical research.
Mary's love of music inspires her family's farewell:
"Until the Twelfth of Never, we'll still be loving you."
No services are planned, but Mare would encourage you to share a drink with friends, family, and strangers.
