Maryann (Schrantz) Dewald Cain, 84, of Evansville, WY, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at Meadow Wind Assisted Living-CaringEdge Hospice.
Maryann was born on October 6, 1941, in Ainsworth, Nebraska, to Earl Avery and Marjorie Jean (Wright) Schrantz. Her parents moved to Casper in 1941 when she was an infant. She attended Natrona County High School.
Maryann married Derold Dean Dewald on January 26, 1958, at Grace Lutheran Church. They met while they both worked at the America Theater. Maryann was a homemaker and worked intermittently at a laundromat and as a grocery store shelf stocker while her four children were raised. She served as a cub scout den mother and brownie girl scout leader. She enjoyed cooking and bowling. Trailer camping and fishing at Pathfinder Lake were regular summer-time activities. After Derold died in 1994 she worked at Ivy and Lace tea shop on Center Street. On June 22, 2002, she married Clyde Eston Cain at the First Christian Church. She knew Clyde through his wife Marie as a member of Extension Club before she passed in 1995. After Clyde retired they towed their trailer many winters to Parker, Arizona. They enjoyed taking cruises and an annual trip to Idaho for potatoes. Most of all she enjoyed having her family around, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maryann is survived by her son Howard Dewald (Elaine Saulinskas) of Athens, OH, son Brian Dewald of Casper, WY, stepson Lonnie (Kimberley) Cain of Casper, WY, granddaughter Amanda Huckabay of Casper, WY, granddaughter Dawn Dewald (Philipp Batta) of Missoula, MT, grandson Andrew Dewald of Iowa City, step-grandson Kyle (Kaija) Lake of Casper, WY, great-grandchildren Olivia Huckabay of Casper, WY, Alexander Batta and Vera Batta, and step-great-grandchildren Kailynn Lake and Kambryn Lake, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Derold and Clyde, her sister Karen (Bill) Coleman, son David Dewald, daughter Rhonda (Dewald) Huckabay-Cashel, and grandson Joshua Huckabay.
The family extends its sincerest appreciation and thanks to caregiver Susan Spiegel from Cornerstone Care Giving and to the nurses and staff at Meadow Wind Assisted Living and CaringEdge Health for hospice.
