Michael Allen Gilmore, 80, of Casper, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Central Wyoming Hospice after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s and cancer.
Born on July 9, 1945, in Oakland, California, Mike was the oldest of four children of Glenn and Francesca Gilmore. He grew up alongside his siblings Joseph Gilmore, Mary Carlo, and Katheryn Willson.
In his younger years, Mike and a friend set out on an adventure to Florida, but a brief stop in Casper changed the course of his life forever. It was there he met the love of his life, Mary L. Meyer, and the two were married in 1965. They remained devoted to each other for nearly sixty years, just two weeks shy of their anniversary. Together they welcomed two children and built a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication.
Mike proudly served in the National Guard before beginning a distinguished 39-year career with the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
A man of many talents and endless energy, Mike enjoyed a wide array of hobbies and pursuits. He loved boating, fishing, and hunting, and was a lifelong admirer of classic cars. As a business owner, he restored vehicles through Carz LLC, and he also enjoyed restoring furniture. Mike was a member of the Elks and had a deep appreciation for travel and new experiences.
His commitment to his community was evident in his extensive public service. Mike served as a Wyoming State Legislator, a Wyoming School Facilities Commissioner, Board President of Natrona County Community Health, and a member of the Wyoming Primary Care Association.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Gilmore; his children, Liz Bayert and Steve (Heather) Gilmore; and his grandchildren Tyler Bodily, Tory Bodily-Fipps, Richard Bodily, Colton Gilmore, Katie Gilmore, Michael Gilmore, and Stephan Gilmore; as well as five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Francesca Gilmore, and his sister, Mary Carlo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Wyoming Hospice Center.
No services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in Casper, Wyoming.
