Our family is heartbroken to share the passing of a remarkable woman — a mother, grandmother, and survivor.
She was a Chinese/Vietnamese refugee who fled the Vietnam War in search of safety and a better life. With courage and determination, she rebuilt her life from nothing, carrying with her the strength and resilience that defined her character. While residing in California, she met her husband, Jonathan Wang and had three children Peter, Samson, and Diana.
She had a vivacious personality, always lighting up a room with her sass, humor, warmth. She worked as a manicurist for over 25 years and made many friends in the community helping people feel and look their best in important life events. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to four grandchildren, Mei, Leon, Theo, and Cyrus. Even in the past few years, she made video calls to her grandchildren with joy, calling out to them over the screen and sharing her love across the miles.
In 2019, she was diagnosed with a serious blood disease, amyloidosis which caused renal failure. For the past several years, she fought bravely, enduring chemotherapy treatments, dialysis, and many setbacks. Last Monday, after enduring pneumonia and flu she left peacefully.
She wishes to be laid to rest next to her mother, father, brothers, and sisters, honoring the family bonds that sustained her throughout her life.
She will be laid at Rosehill Memorial Park in Whittier, California. She will be missed and will always live in our hearts and memories.
