Owen Eugene "Gene" Thompson

Gene Thompson, born on March 13, 1945, in Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming. At the age of 80, Gene left behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his family and friends.

Gene was the beloved husband of Marylyn Fae Thompson. Together they built a life filled with devotion and shared experiences. He was a proud father to Allen (Nikki) Thompson, Belinda (Gary) Davis, and Cynthia “Jessie” (Dan) Harmon. Gene’s love extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Evaline (Carter) and William Owen Thompson; his children Regina Thompson, Randy Minks, and Becky Nickel; as well as his sisters Pat Ligon and Martha Lou Reed. Their memories remained close to Gene’s heart.

Gene had a passion for life that shone through in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid bowler who bowled numerous 300 games and an 800 series. A devoted sports fan, he cheered enthusiastically for the UK Wildcats and the LA Dodgers. Fishing provided him with peaceful moments of reflection, while woodworking allowed him to create with skill and care.

Gene’s memory will be treasured by all who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort to those he leaves behind. A Memorial Service will be held on February 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Sunrise Baptist Church 3990 S McKinley St. Casper, WY 82601

Per Gene’s wishes, a graveside service will be planned for a later date in Reed, KY.
