Percy Graham Anderson, Jr.

June 22, 1928 — March 20, 2025

Percy Graham Anderson, Jr., age 96, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, surrounded by family members. Born on June 22, 1928, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Percy was the fourth of five siblings born to Percy Graham, Sr., and Annette Avery Anderson. He lived an impactful life, leaving a legacy of dedication to his family, profession, and community.

In June 1955, Percy married Betty Jo Sanderson in Blackwell, Texas. Percy cherished the family they built together for 26 years until her passing in October 1981. In September 1982, Percy married Doris Butler in Casper, Wyoming. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage until her passing in 2019. They laughed through many activities, such as sailing on the Alaska coast, not sleeping well in Sante Fe, swimming with the dolphins in Florida, enjoying the lamb's wool in New Zealand, touring the islands of Hawaii, and getting lost in the middle of China.

In 1950, Percy graduated from Texas A&M with a mechanical engineering degree. He became a petroleum engineer with Lion Oil (later bought by Monsanto) and Moncrief Oil. Over his lifetime, Percy lived in El Dorado, Arkansas; Pratt, Kansas; Snyder, Texas; Midland, Texas; Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Houston, Texas; and Casper, Wyoming, where he lived for over half his life. His final move in 2022 was to Loveland, Colorado, where he spent his final days living near his son.

Percy pursued a career in petroleum engineering, a field he approached with passion and expertise. He retired after a distinguished career during which he made substantial contributions to oil and gas drilling in Wyoming. Percy was the supervising engineer drilling the deepest vertical wells in the Rocky Mountains to that point in the American industry. He also served as President of the Casper Petroleum Club from 1982 to 1983, demonstrating his leadership and respect within the industry.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Percy was deeply committed to serving others. He was a member of the Highland Park Community Church in Casper, Wyoming, and a dedicated member of the Rotary Club, embodying their motto of Service Above Self. For an extraordinary 30 years, he volunteered as a Meals on Wheels driver, bringing sustenance and companionship to countless individuals in his community. His commitment to this service reflected his compassionate and generous spirit. He also enjoyed traveling and participating in most sporting activities, such as hiking, biking, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and water and snow skiing. However, his passion for golf surpassed all other sports.

Family and friends deeply miss Percy's quiet strength and unwavering support. His children: David Anderson, of Kyle, Texas; Alan Anderson, of Loveland, Colorado; and Amy (Anderson) Owen, of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Four step-children: Glenda Beeson, of Evansville, Wyoming; Randy Butler, of Casper, Wyoming; Rob Butler, of Casper, Wyoming; and Dude Butler, of Dickinson, Texas. And his twenty-seven grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his wives and four siblings.

A memorial to celebrate his life will be Saturday, 11am, June 21, 2025, at the Newcomer Funeral Home at 1710 East 2nd Street in Casper, Wyoming. In place of flowers, you are welcome to donate in his memory to these humanitarian groups: Casper Meals on Wheels, Rotary Club of Casper, or any local hospice.
