Randy Ray Rieker: 1953 – 2026
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, Randy Ray Rieker, 73, of Casper passed away March 24, 2026 surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Saturday, January 10, 1953, in Casper, Wyoming, to Marie Elizabeth (Elliot) and Harold William Rieker. He grew up in multiple towns throughout Wyoming graduating from Campbell County High School, and a degree from Casper College in 1973.
Randy married the love of his life, Susan Oberwager, on May 19, 1973. They met playing ping pong while attending Casper College. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage.
Following college, Randy started his career at Amoco Production, as a Petroleum Engineer by moving with Susan to Denver, Colorado for a brief moment before returning back home to Casper, Wyoming in 1974. In 1975 they welcomed their first son Zachary, followed by their second son Eugene in 1977. Randy worked for various petroleum companies until his retirement in 2021.
Randy’s passion was watching his kids and grandchildren play sports and other activities. Randy also enjoyed reading, watching movies, hunting, fly fishing, and watching sports. He was a lifelong Wyoming Cowboy and New York Yankees fan. Randy was a self-taught historian and was particularly well versed in World War 1 and 2. Randy was well known in Casper as a youth baseball coach, bestowing his knowledge of the game to his kids and the youth of Casper. Both Randy and his sons were often stopped by his former players to thank him or regale him with stories from their playing days. Additionally, Randy was very active in Scouts, particularly the Pinewood Derby. More than anything, Randy enjoyed spending time with his family.
Randy is survived by his wife, Susan; Children: Zachary (Heather) and Eugene (Sara); brother, Larry (Jayne); Grandchildren, Marcus (Jenny), Brant (Maya), Isabel (Tobin), Ella, and Colton; Great Grandchildren, Thilo and Finn; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie; father, Harold; sisters, Linda Walker and Joann Williams.
Funeral services will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Casper, Wyoming on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. The family asks everyone to wear their best Brown and Gold (Wyoming Cowboy Gear), in his honor. Private graveside services will be held at the Wyoming Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the funeral service. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.
