Richard “Dick” Warren Sorenson, 91 passed away on August 8, 2025, at his home in Casper, Wyoming.
He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, January 28, 1934, to Scott and Sylvia Sorenson. Richard graduated from Natrona County High School in 1953, and attended Casper College following graduation. On January 1, 1954, Richard married Sharon Bordeaux. In April, 1954, Richard enlisted in the Air Force, and spent his time in El Paso, Illinois, and Guam. Richard was honorably discharged in 1957, and settled in Casper with Sharon and their young son Richard “Rick”. In July, 1958, his daughter Karen was born. Richard and Sharon divorced in 1968 after 14 years of marriage.
Richard met his second wife, Karen Ito, at First National Bank, and in 1977 they were married. They were together almost 39 years. During this time, they traveled, spent summers out at Alcova Lake, played cards and spent time with friends and family. Richard also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and creating beautiful works of art as a landscape artist. His works are well-known and are displayed in many businesses and homes in Wyoming and beyond.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lee and Scott, and sisters Betty and Frances. He is survived by his former wife Karen, sister-in-law Grace, son Rick Sorenson, daughter Karen Farley (Mel), grandchildren Joshua, Ariana, Christopher, Alyssa, Tyler, Meghan, McKenna, Connor, and great-grandchildren Barrett, Riley, and Olson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad, we love and miss you, but we know you missed your family and friends terribly and we are comforted knowing that you are back with them. Give them all a hug from us.
