Richard “Bert” Jackson, 61, of Casper, went to heaven Friday February 6, 2026.
He was born, November 30, 1964, in Laramie, WY to his parents, Delbert and Virginia Jackson. Bert graduated from Douglas High School in 1983 and received an Associate’s in Engineering Technology from DeVry University, Phoenix, AZ in 1985.
Bert enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1986, beginning an 11-year journey of selfless service to his country. His career took him across the globe, with assignments at the Pentagon; Wurzburg, Germany; Ft. Stewart, GA; Seoul, South Korea; and Ft. Hood, TX. He also honorably deployed to Kuwait in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Upon returning home to Douglas, Bert returned to his roots as a mechanic with Bud’s Field Services & Truck Repair. He later spent years as a conductor and engineer for Union Pacific Railroad before ultimately finding his "dream job" at Igo Oil Field Services. There, he served as a dedicated mechanic and shop foreman, a role he took great pride in until his final days. Outside of work, Bert was happiest when he was outdoors or in the shop— whether he was turning wrenches, building derby cars, hunting, fishing, or simply sharing a laugh with family and friends. A man of profound selflessness, he never hesitated to put others before himself, maintaining his characteristic strength and devotion throughout his life.
Bert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jackson of Casper, and his three children: Katy Goldman, of Cheyenne; Jake Jackson, of Douglas; and Marcus Jackson, of Puerto Rico. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia Jackson, of Douglas, his three siblings and his three grandchildren: Brayden, Riley Jo, and Liam Goldman. He is preceded in death by his father, Delbert Jackson, his brother, Greg Jackson, and the mother of his children, Ramah Jo Jackson.
