It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Dick” Schulte on May 5, 2025. Born on August 21, 1948, Dick leaves behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and cherished memories.
Dick was a man of few words, yet his quiet kindness spoke volumes. His actions always carried more weight than words, as he lived with unwavering positivity, humility, and deep love. Family and friends admired him for his gentle nature and the indelible imprint he left on every life he touched.
One of his proudest accomplishments was his loving marriage to Starlet “Sam,” with whom he raised three wonderful children. Dick is survived by his daughters Ann McGregor and Christina Carroll, and his son Josef Schulte. He was also the proud grandfather of four granddaughters, whom he truly adored. The time, attention, and unconditional love he gave to his family are the greatest gifts he leaves behind. His quiet lessons in humility, kindness, and the importance of family will continue to guide them for generations.
Dick earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Montana State University. He began his career with the City of Billings, where he met his future wife, Sam. In 1977, they moved to Casper, Wyoming, where Dick worked for the City of Casper’s Building Department until his retirement in 2008.
A man of many hobbies, Dick enjoyed collecting firearms, cast iron skillets, and pocket knives. But for him, the joy was never in the collection—it was in the hunt, and in finding just the right person to pass a piece along to. He spent countless hours restoring cast iron skillets, giving them to family and friends with quiet pride.
Dick also loved good food and shared many meals with loved ones at his favorite local spots. He especially enjoyed taking his granddaughters to Sherrie’s, breakfasts at Cheese Barrel, weekly visits to Johnny J’s, and Thursdays at the Hamburger Stand with the “guys.”
Dick and Sam’s lives will be commemorated in a burial service on August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Billings, Montana. All who knew and loved Dick and Sam are warmly invited to join in celebrating his remarkable life.
A small remembrance gathering will also be held for friends in the Casper area at Sherrie’s Place on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 1 - 4 pm.
In his memory, may we all strive to live out the values Dick held dear—by showing kindness in our daily interactions, placing family above all else, and finding joy in life’s simplest pleasures.
