Ricky Lew Brittenham passed from this earthly world on December 17, 2025 at the age of 70 in Casper, Wyoming. Ricky was born on May 16, 1955, the second of five sons, to Lee Max and Dorothy Ann (Hood) Brittenham in Fort Laramie, Wyoming where Lee was employed by Pathfinder Irrigation District and Dorothy nurtured, loved and provided a home to her young and growing family.
Lee’s job took the young family to Morrill, Nebraska and then to the Kansas oilfields, returning to Fort Laramie and downriver to Torrington, where Ricky started school. The family moved to Casper in 1965 and Dorothy married Ralph Nichols, whereupon the boys were blessed with the grandest stepfather (provider, mentor, hunting, fishing and camping buddy) and two new siblings.
Recognized early on as a very special young man with certain special needs, Ricky began a long career of work and recreation in the Casper area, ultimately retiring from Albertsons in 2012. Ricky was a gifted athlete, an accomplished cross-country skier, soft ball pitcher, weight lifter and a bowling champion. Travelling across the State and Country for competition, Ricky retired from Special Olympics well into his 50’s.
Ricky’s happiest days were spent with his family and relatives fishing, hunting and camping. Ricky always caught fish, from the brookie creeks, trout rivers and walleye lakes of Wyoming, to Canada’s Poplar River and the Gulf waters of Florida and Mexico. He was a natural wing shooter, pheasants and quail were his specialty. He was a skilled and patient turkey hunter rarely failing to outsmart a fat tom.
Ricky and his brothers and sister were blessed with the unconditional love, care and companionship provided by Mom and Ralph on each day of their lives. Ricky faced more tough obstacles to life than most have to endure, but with the never-ending love from his mother and the support of all of his family and friends, he overcame them all.
Rick was preceded in death by his father and stepfather and two of his brothers, Kim Allen Brittenham and Kelly Vaughn Brittenham. Ricky is survived by his mother and brothers Douglas Brittenham, Terry Brittenham, and Ronald Nichols and sister Melissa Konkle.
Following cremation, Ricky’s ashes will be interred. Celebration of Ricky’s life continues daily by all who were so privileged to have him in their lives.
