Robert Michael Cook born April 9, 1948, of Casper, Wyoming passed away February 19, 2026 after a brief illness. At the age of 77 he left behind a legacy and enormous amount of love. He was well-known for his “Cook” time.
He graduated from Laramie High School in 1966. In his younger days he was on the Alpine ski patrol and competed on the water skiing team.
Bob enlisted in the US Army in 1966 serving in Vietnam. Served his 2 years, then reupped for 6 more months while still in Vietnam. He worked as a mechanic on military tanks, and hauled water through enemy lines. Earning a bronze star for his efforts. Returning home in March 1969.
In 1972, he married his sweetheart Cathy. To this marriage they had 2 delightful children, Michael & Tammy.
Bob worked for WOTCO for 41 years as a welder. Moving up to lead man before retiring in 2014.
Bob looked forward to his annual hunting in Jackson chasing the elk herds. His summers were spent at the lake fishing and camping. One of his greatest joys was being the chairman of the Eagles fishing derby for 24 years.
Bob enjoyed tinkering on cars, and working for hours upon hours fixing up derby cars with his son Mike, and restoring old vehicles. His other pastime was bowling twice a week.
He was an active member of the Casper Eagles FOE, Elks Lodge and VFW. Bob was a past president of both the Eagles and VFW.
Bob's last great joy was his chow-chow Meisha. After having a chow as a child, it was always on his wish list. Meisha was rescued in 2022. She was always ready for another treat from him.
Bob will be remembered for his wit and the sass that came along with it. Bob is survived by his wife Catherine Cook, son Michael Cook (Robin), daughter Tammy Hubl (Doug) , grandchildren Shantel Weckwerth (Chris), Cody Hubl, Kaitlyn Cook (Max & Stetson {dogs}), Kyle Hubl, Alyssia Cook (Billy), great-grandchildren Elliauna and Jackson and never ending extended family.
Bob was proceeded in death by his mother Thelma Muchmore, father Donald Cook, stepdad Pete Muchmore, brothers Dick & Jerry Cook.
Grave side burial services will be held at Highland Cemetery February 27, 2026 at 1 p.m.
Memorials can be made to Casper’s Humane Society or St Jude’s Children Research.
