Robert Christian Fredrickson, 81, of Evansville, Wyoming passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Robert Christian Fredrickson, Bob, was born on July 10, 1944, in Sherman, Missouri to James Arthur and Ruth Hawthorne Fredrickson. Bob was one of four siblings, brothers Jim and Jerry, and sister Janelle. His aunt Laura was an important figure in his life and would send Christmas care packages with her world-famous fudge each year.
Bob served in the United States Army from 1964 – 1968. After his discharge, Bob became an oilfield man and traveled around the country for work. During this time, he met Judy Parsley in Casper, Wyoming and they fell in love. They were married on March 20, 1974.Judy and Bob would live the life of an oil driller and his wife, traveling to other states and countries for work. They lived in Scottland while he worked on an offshore rig. He adapted to the boom-and-bust cycle by working as a plumber when the days in the Oil City were toughest. He retired from an international company where he would travel to Saudi Arabia throughout the year to go to work.
The couple did not have children of their own, but they were instrumental in raising and caring for all of the kids in the family. An especially close parental bond was shared with Aaron Steven and Melanie Rose MacMillan. Bob was one of only two uncles in a family full of aunts, and he took great pride in teaching his nieces and nephews to fish, work in the yard, home maintenance projects, and bringing them along on company truck rides to check on rigs throughout the state. We can’t talk about this family man without mentioning his love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the passion he instilled with “Go Big Red!” In years long passed he could be heard strumming one of his old guitars. He was also an avid computer guy, but that was before the social media era.
Bob was gentle and solid, and always willing to help. He will be missed by all who know and love him.
Bob was not the first to go home. His parents and aunts and uncles went before he did. He was also surely met at the gates by Judy and Melanie. There are many more names to list in who he was preceded by.
He is survived by Mariah and Marin MacMillan, and to them he hung the moon! He is also survived by his siblings and their families, and sisters-in-law Peggy Reed, Barby MacMillan, Colleen Rodgers and Kathy Parsley and many nieces and nephews and their families.
A service with military honors will be held at 1:30pm, Monday, April 20, 2026, at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming.
