Robert Valentine Morris

September 21, 1948 — March 22, 2024

Robert Valentine (Bob) Morris, 75, passed away peacefully under Hospice care on March 22, 2024 in his hometown of Casper Wy.

Born in Cresco Iowa on September 21st 1948 To H.E. (Ed) and Susanna Julia Morris. At the time, the youngest of 8 siblings,Bob spent his early years moving around the upper midwest as his father sought a better life for his family. He lived briefly in Lake Mills, IA, Arlington, MN, then started school in Superior, WI, before moving to Frederick, SD. Just after starting third grade the family once again moved to Kansas City, MO. There he attended Robbins Elementary then graduated from Westport High School in 1966.

In 1967 Bob was determined to avoid the draft so he Joined the US Army. He spent 1968 with the First Cavalry in VietNam, and was there during the Tet offensive.

After his military obligations were complete, Bob moved to Lennox SD in 1972. His parents had moved there with his youngest brother in 1967. Without a particular vocation, Bob took on numerous manual labor jobs. Perhaps his best find was meeting his future wife, Lou (Mary Louise) Lund, who was a schoolmate of his brother. That turned into a 50 plus year marriage beginning November 13, 1973.

The man was truly a Jack of all Trades and was a master at many. After a time he began cooking at area restaurants, something he had a real talent for. In short order he began managing restaurants for others. In 1975, in partnership with his wife and Mother, they opened the Mainstreeter Cafe in downtown Lennox.

After selling the restaurant in 1978, They decided to head south to a warmer climate so they packed up the kids, Brian, born, 4/19/74 and Jessica, 9/23/77 and moved to Muskogee, OK. Bob went to work with two of his brothers at a little start up company called Morr Control. This is where Bob found his true vocation. He quickly mastered the Industrial Water Treatment business and became one of the true innovators in the industry. He was a huge catalyst in the growth and success of the company. he was a self taught engineer, who always found a way to get things done. He holds a patent for a control device that has saved billions of gallons of water.

After that business was sold in 1989, Bob moved on to start his own consulting company, ultimately moving the family to Idaho Springs, Co. In 1998 Bob and Lou moved to Casper, WY. where Lou managed the Tommyknocker Brew pub. Her job ended in 2000, but they liked Casper so much they decided to stay.
Tragedy struck on 05/31/2000, when their son Brian was in a car accident and spent months in the hospital. He is still recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
June 23, 2001 their beloved daughter Jessica was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident.

At this point, Bob had rejoined his family in a new start up business called Advantage Controls. he worked as a regional technical sales manager and mentor to many of the young guys, all of which have their own Bob stories. Once again he served as a big factor in the growth and success of that company up until his retirement in 2018.

Bob was a truly unique individual. He did things the "Bob" way. He was generous with his resources and his help whenever it was needed. Having travelled the world as well as the entire US, he had many adventures, and was a great story teller. Mostly though, he was the story! Bob loved music, traveling, fast cars, food, his friends, camping and the outdoors. Animals and little kids loved him and that tells you all you need to know! He had a zest for life that was contagious to all who knew him and he will be missed but never forgotten.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife Lou of the home, son Brian Morris of Casper, WY, brother Harry Morris of Davenport, FL, brother Richard and wife Alma Morris of Muskogee, OK, brother Mark Morris and wife JoAnne of Los Altos Hills, CA, brother Maury and wife Judy Morris of Edmund, OK, sister Miranda Morris and husband Charles Olvis of Pebble Beach, Ca, and brother Dan Morris of Ft. Gibson, Ok. He also leaves behind 26 nieces and nephews and 31 great nieces and nephews (and that's not counting Lou's side !) Most of them knew him as UB, for "Uncle Bob", and most of them have "Uncle Bob" stories.

A truly remarkable and unforgettable personality.
RIP Bob
