Roland William (Ron) McCrary, age 85, was born on July 7, 1940, in Casper, Wyoming. Ron passed away peacefully at his home in Casper on January 20th, 2026 surrounded by his beloved wife and family.

Ron was a lifelong resident of Casper, where he cherished the great outdoors and made countless memories with family and friends at their family cabin on Deer Creek. A proud graduate of Natrona County High School, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving at Chenault Air Force Base in Lake Charles, Louisiana. There, he began his family and welcomed three daughters. After his honorable discharge he returned to Wyoming, where his son was born and his roots remained strong.

In 1981, Ron married Nancy, blending their families and raising their boys together. Ron was a dedicated fan of the University of Wyoming football team, the Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and the Buffalo Bills, traveling to support his teams whenever he could. His passion for sports was unmatched—he was a walking encyclopedia of baseball, football and basketball trivia and statistics, and he continued pitching fast-pitch softball well into his fifties, proudly participating in 50 and over Master’s National tournaments.

Professionally, Ron spent much of his career in the uranium industry, mastering the role of purchasing agent before later joining WOTCO, where he eventually retired. Known for his quick wit, sparkling eyes, and mischievous smile, Ron delighted in surprising his family with impromptu visits, often driving long distances to attend graduations and sporting events for his grandchildren. He and Nancy also shared a fondness for travel and always enjoyed a good adventure together.

Ron’s strong Christian faith guided him throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; daughters Stephanie (Brian) Rhoades, Mary Christine Hill, Stacy (Larry) Hunter Corbello; son James McCrary; stepsons Mike (Angie) Esquivel and Tracy Esquivel; brothers Craig (Sue) McCrary and Jerel McCrary; sister Margie (Larry) Roberts. During his lifetime, Ron was blessed with eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Memorial services will be held at Wellsprings Vineyard Church, 801 Beverly Street, Saturday, January 31st at 11:00am.

Ron’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family and friends will be forever cherished.
