Rose Capshaw, 81, of Casper, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, after a brief illness.
Rose was born November 15, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Elsie and Robert Kowalski Sr. She grew up in Thermopolis before moving Casper at the age of 15 with her parents and four siblings. In 1968, she married the love of her life, Clifford “Oley” Capshaw. They took numerous trips around the country, embarking on vacations with their various nieces and nephews. Oley passed away in 2000. Rose spent much of her life working at Safeway (later Ridley’s) in Casper as a cashier, before retiring. She was well known by coworkers and customers alike for her welcoming smile and warm conversation.
Rose was a lover of animals and had a small memorial in her backyard to each pet she ever cherished — dogs, bunnies, and more. Her final furry companion was Angel the Pomeranian, who found a new home within the family.
Rose loved sending greeting cards to family and friends. No occasion was too big or too small: Christmas, birthdays, Easter, you name it. Each card was written with care and signed, “Love, Rose,” often with the name of her current furry companion.
One of Rose’s beloved family members once remarked, “we all have bad days — except Rose.” She always had a smile on her face and embraced each day. She loved chatting with friends, family, neighbors, and customers at Safeway. There were no strangers to Rose, only friends she hadn’t met yet.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Jr.; sister, Teri Daniels; husband, Oley; and many beloved pets. She is survived by brother Robert Kowalski III of Casper; brother Roy “Butch” Kowalski of Midwest; sister Gail Capshaw of Mesa, Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 30th, 2026, at Good News Church located at 900 N Grant, in Casper, Wyoming.
