Listen to Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Lee Rusciolelli, of Casper Wyoming passed away peacefully in hospice care at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the age of eighty.

Sandy was born on July 3, 1945, in Lamar, Colorado, to Alma P. and Harold L. “Lee” Johnson. She graduated from Glenrock High School and went on to have a career in bookkeeping and office management in the oil and gas, and healthcare industries.

After fifteen years in Linch, Wyoming, working at Stafford Well Service, Sandy and family moved to Casper where she was instrumental in building Central Wyoming Hospice by leading funding initiatives to expand critically needed services in Natrona County and beyond. Her dedication to the hospice mission, as well as love for dear patients and families served by the center, was palpable to all who knew her. Before retiring, Sandy applied her expertise at Wyoming Family Practice and did bookkeeping for several small businesses in the Casper area.

In addition to making her mark professionally in the Casper community, Sandy cared for her mother and father, diligently attending to their well-being and ensuring they maintained contact with family near and far. She adored her dogs Tuffy, Stitch and Bea; each one with a spot all their own at her side or on her lap. Sandy had an uncanny ability of remembering friends’ and family members’ birthdays, anniversaries, and small wins, celebrating them with a timely card or phone call. Conversations with her grandchildren were especially joyful.

Finally, Toni Hutchison held a special and constant place in Sandy’s life. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Toni for her compassionate presence and readiness to help Sandy- day or night. Toni’s attentive support, thoughtful advocacy, and devotion were a profound gift that may have caused Sandy some consternation, but more importantly, brought her comfort and peace. Toni, thank you for it all.

Sandy is survived by her two children, Richaelle “Rikkie” Hauffe (Michael) and Nicholas Rusciolelli; four grandchildren, Tiffany McCann (Michael), Ciera Hauffe, Hunter Hauffe and Sophia Rusciolelli; and four great-grandchildren Raven, Travis, Hannah, and Emma. She is also survived by her brothers, Jim Johnson (Carolyn); Gary Johnson (Nancy); six nieces and nephews. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Alma P. (Conard) Johnson, Harold L. Johnson; Jimmie J. Johnson II, and Michael McCann.

The Johnson, Rusciolelli and Hauffee families will honor Sandy’s memory privately and, per Sandy’s request, without formal funeral or memorial services.

The family asks that memorial donations be made in Sandy’s name to the cause she most cherished: Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary, which focuses on conservation of the Platte River ecosystem as well as stewardship of Sandhill and Whooping crane migration routes.
