Scott Shields, 78, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

William Scott Shields was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 29, 1946 to Eugene and Mary Alice Shields.

Scott and his family moved several times while they were growing up due to Eugene's employment. Scott joined the Navy in 1967 and spent 4 years partially in Guam and Japan. After his military duty he went to college and received his Bachelor's degree in geology. Scott worked as a geologist for the oil industry.

Scott met Peggy Zettlemoyer and they lived happily together for 16 years. Scott was a true rock hound, loved to travel and fish. Scott enjoyed engaging with others and maintained many special relationships. And all dogs loved Scotty. Scott was a member of the Wyoming Geological Association and a supporter of the Tate Geological Museum.

Scott is survived by his brother, Vince Shields and sister, Velara Geauthreaux.

Memorial contributions can be made in Scott Shields' name to Tate Geological Museum, Wounded Warriors Project, PBS, or NPR.
