Listen to Obituary

Sharon Marie Robb Richards left this mortal world for eternal life in the kingdom of her Almighty God on September 12, 2025. She was with her family on this glorious day. She passed from natural causes. She was 88 years young.

She was born in Baker, MT on the 17th day of May 1937. She was the daughter of Kenneth Irish and Audry Ruth Wagner Irish.

Her father Kenneth subsequently ran off and left his young wife Audrey and daughter Sharon to seek something different. By the grace of God these two ladies met Ernest “Ernie” Alfred Robb. He married Audrey and began raising Sharon as his own. Oh how Sharon cherished him, and vice versa. He was an absolute Godsend, and it was a match made in heaven. Ernie and Audrey subsequently had two children, two ornery boys, Ernest A. Robb Jr (“Sonny”) and Ronald “Ronnie” Robb. Sharon cherished her two brothers, even though they would “borrow” her 1955 Chevy Bel Air, after hours, to take out drag racing on the strip.

Sharon’s schooling was hit or miss. Dad Ernie was an oilfield man and subsequently did a whole lot of moving and travelling, thus Sharon spent much of her young life living in oilfield camps with rudimentary facilities, from Corpus Christie, TX to Rifle, CO to Powell, WY, and many others. She attended school as she could. Finally, the family settled down and landed in Casper, WY. Sharon was finally able to attend school and graduated from NCHS in 1955.

She married Thomas “Tommy” James Richards in 1955 after graduating. A son, Gary Thomas Richards, was subsequently born to the couple in October 1955. Most unfortunately Tommy was killed in a car accident coming down from Casper Mountain on March 24, 1956, leaving behind an 18 year old bride with a six month old son. Hence Sharon was about to embark on a very challenging journey. But with the support of the Robb family and the Richards family, life was smoothed out some. Along with family, friends smoothed out the road as well, with particular note to her best friends Jennie Brown, Gloria Daugherity and Karen Loghry. They were close.

Over the next many decades Sharon endured some bumpy roads and greatly enjoyed some smooth ones. She was employed in secretarial and administrative work in Casper. She loved dancing and camping and boating and reading. She loved her son Gary unconditionally, she cherished her mom and dad and brothers, and her friends were like sisters.

After much patience, her son Gary and wife Sherry supplied her with two grandchildren, granddaughter Alexandra Richards and grandson Zachary Richards (oh, and not to forget her beloved granddog Daisy May). No grandchildren ever got loved on more than these two by their grandmother. She absolutely adored them, and they adored her. She loved every, single thing about them. She particularly loved attending their never-ending sporting teams and events. She was their best fan. In truth they made her life complete, to her last days.

Sharon was a very independent person, thankfully. She was incredibly generous and selfless with her family and her charities. She was very intelligent and a voracious reader. She could solve the most complex of crossword puzzles in minutes, and read a novel in days. She had scholarships to attend college, but she didn’t make it. Life had a different direction in mind. She was a beautiful woman, in every way.

From her lifelong friend and author Jennie...”Sharon was a strong, intelligent, well-informed woman. She possessed a sharp wit and was a keen observer. And most of all, she was, in my definition, an optimistic realist. She had experienced life, both the bright and the dark, but kept her sense of humor and the ability to carry on, regardless of any setbacks. She would expect no less of us now, as we mourn her passing. Consider yourself fortunate if you enjoyed her company, even for a brief time period. I was blessed nearly an entire lifetime.

Sharon leaves behind: her son Gary (Sherry) and beloved grandchildren Ally and Zach; her brother Ronnie (Rita).
