Our hearts are broken as we share that Shawn Segaar-Bratsch, age 40, of Casper has passed away on Oct 7, 2025. Shawn was so much more than the years he lived — he was a husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose presence made life brighter for everyone who knew him.
Shawn loved the simple, beautiful things in life. He was most at peace outdoors — hunting at sunrise, fishing by the water, or just soaking in the quiet moments that reminded him of what really mattered. He had a deep appreciation for nature and a way of finding joy in every season.
More than anything, Shawn loved his family. He shared his life and heart with his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Zoey, who was his whole world. Shawn was the kind of dad who always showed up — for early morning ice fishing and hunting trips, but most of all shared a love of collecting and playing Pokemon with Zoey. His love for Heather and Zoey was constant and unconditional, and he made sure they always knew it.
Shawn will be remembered for his big heart, his easy laugh, and his ability to make everyone feel like family. He had a way of turning an ordinary day into an adventure, and his stories and laughter will be treasured forever by those lucky enough to have shared life with him.
Shawn is survived by his wife of 10 years, Heather; daughter Zoey of Casper. He is also survived by his father Don Segaar of Brooten MN, brothers Curt (Connie) Johnson, Daryn (Sharon) Johnson, Eric (Deanna) Johnson, Sister Heather (Travis) Bauer; and sister in laws Carol Johnson, Danell Johnson and sister April Orsten. Shawn was blessed with a wonderful extended family through marriage, in laws Mark and Becky Stevens, Morgan (Colton) Moore, and numerous nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his mother Jane Segaar, brothers Allen Johnson and Brian Johnson.
He leaves behind countless memories, love that will never fade, and a reminder to live fully, love deeply, and take the time to breathe in the beauty of the world around us — just like he always did.
A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held at a later time. In honor of Shawn, the family encourages everyone to spend a little time outdoors — cast a line, watch a sunset, tell a good story, and think of him. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up an memorial account at Hilltop bank under his daughter's name Zoey Segaar Bratsch.
