Shirley Lee Garvin

Shirley Lee (Davis) Garvin died peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Shirley was born on May 15, 1936, in Ft. Collins, CO, the daughter of Harold Davis and Geraldine (Swendener). Her family moved to Powell, WY, where she graduated high school in 1954. It was there that she went to school and met the love of her life, Jerre Dean Garvin. The couple were married on July 19, 1953, in Powell, WY, and they subsequently welcomed four children into the world.

In 1971, Shirley and Jerre settled in Casper where they co-founded Jerre's Muffler Shop and Automotive Repair, located at the corner of Collins and Ash and persevered for 27 years. Shirley was artistically gifted and a talented seamstress. She made ornaments, dresses with bloomers for her granddaughters, baby blankets, t-shirt blankets, potato bags, dish cloths and numerous other treasures. Knowing that his cancer would eventually win, Jerre signed Shirley up for a quilting class, as he knew, "she would need something to keep her busy". In addition to creating beautiful quilts and blessing her family with her creations, she also donated homemade Christmas stockings to the Mission, pillow cases and baby blankets that benefitted WIC and Sleep in Heavenly Peace and hats to cancer patients. Shirley enjoyed weekly gatherings for group sewing and occasional lunches with her sewing buddies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Geri Davis, husband Jerre (2003) and son Gary (2026), and sisters, Barbara and Janet. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Wedlock, Cathy (Dan) Nutting, Connie Buck, daughter-in-law Cindy, as well as 8 grandchildren including Ryan Harkins, Travis Cortez, Heath (Christina) Cortez, Rachel (Matt) Adamson, Stevi (Eric) Sy, Kurtis (Case) Buck, Cory (Nikki) Garvin, Ben (Elly) Garvin and 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her honor to Meals on Wheels or Central Wyoming Hospice. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Newcomer's and internment at Highland Cemetery will take place at a later date.
