Shirley Mae Skinner, 92, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at the Casper Hospice House in Casper, Wyoming.
Shirley was born on December 20, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She and her husband, Chuck, spent much of their lives in Milwaukee, where Shirley worked as the head housekeeper at Dillion Inn. Chuck & Shirley spent their final years in Wyoming, close to their daughter, granddaughters, and great-grandsons.
Shirley was a woman who knew her own mind. She was sassy, stubborn, and never afraid to let you know what she wanted—and those who knew her best would not have wanted her any other way. She was fortunate to have a husband who loved to spoil her, and Chuck certainly did!!
Shirley had one daughter, Sue Asselin. Shirley also found great amusement in her son-in-law, Rex, who had a way of making her laugh and bringing lightheartedness to their family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Elmer & Esther Seelow, her brother, Elmer “Junior” Seelow, her beloved husband, Chuck Skinner; and her great-grandson, Jordan Jackson.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Asselin (Rex); granddaughters, Deanna (Jesse) Cheney and Brenda (Shannon) Armstrong; and great-grandsons, Zakary Lenhart, Ty Larson, Tait Larson, Kaydan Jackson, Skylar Jackson, and Tanner Cheney.
Shirley’s cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service at this time. She will be laid to rest with Chuck at the VA military cemetery in Casper WY.
Shirley leaves behind a legacy of feistiness, humor, and love. Her family will cherish the memories of her spirited personality, and the laughter she brought without even knowing she did.
We would like to give a special thanks to the local ladies Shannon & Brittany who through hospice took such good care of her the last couple of years and to the ladies in Casper at the Hospice house who looked after her till the end. We appreciate your support and the great care that she received.
