Stephan Roy Whittecar

Stephen “Steve” Roy Whittecar, age 72, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 30th, 2026, under the care of hospice, in Casper, Wyoming. In keeping with Steve’s wishes he will be cremated, and no services will be held.

Steve was born on May 15, 1953 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Roy and Agusta (Kretz)Whittecar. Steve grew up in a large, loving family with 7 siblings in Granger, Wyoming. Steve shared fond memories of playing basketball and commuting on long bus rides to Green River High School, where he graduated in 1971.

As a young man, Steve worked in the oil fields, where was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Steve met the love of his life Cynthia (Cindy) Shilling in 1981, and together, the two built a strong family. They raised 3 children and loved one another until her passing.

Steve was fiercely generous with his time and effort that he gave to his family. Steve could always be found telling a joke or serving his family and his community in any way he saw a need. Some of his favorite things to do was, cheering on his son from the stands at football and soccer games, fishing, watching sports of all kinds, and enjoying time with his family. Steve was the epitome of the much loved phrase “give the shirt off his back.” Anyone that knew him will remember him fondly for his steadfast strength, his unwavering support, acts of kindness to anyone in need, and of course all of his jokes. Steve and Cindy loved being surrounded by their children, including their niece and great-niece who were loved like daughters.

Steve is survived by his 4 children, Carrie (Mike) Wing of Union City, Michigan, Michael Shilling of Casper, Wyoming, Steven (Ashley Walker) Whittecar of Casper, Wyoming and Amanda Vazquez Garcia of Casper, Wyoming, his 7 grandchildren, Zachary Fitzpatrick, Brandon Fitzpatrick, Nathaniel Fitzpatrick, Allison Price-Wing, Antonio Vasquez Garcia, Arianna Vasquez Garcia and Reagan Wing. His siblings, Mary Morin of Granger, Wyoming and Vicky Fowler of Casper, Wyoming. His niece Bobbie Fowler and great niece Jolin Fowler.

Steve is preceded in death by his lifetime partner Cynthia Shilling, his parents Roy and Agusta Whittecar, his brother George Whittecar, his sisters Minnie Anson, Anna May Whittecar, Janice Redenbaugh and Lena Mae Whittecar
