Susan Leilani Kihle, age 59, was born on May 21, 1966, in Casper, Wyoming, to Lorraine and Leroy Heide. After graduating from Kelly Walsh High School in 1984, Susan went on to marry the love of her life Kim W. Kihle on November 22, 1988. Together, they built a life full of adventure, devotion, and joy, raising three sons—Layne, Brandon, and Matthew—who were the center of her world. Susan's youngest, Matthew suffered a stroke prior to his birth, becoming Wyoming's first childrens special ambassador for the United way Foundation at the young age of 3.
She was the heartbeat of her family—loving fiercely and laughing freely. Her kids were her world, her husband her partner in every adventure, and her animals, her constant companions. Whether it was a quiet morning in the garden, a wild weekend camping with the boys, or a spirited Sunday cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, she embraced every moment with joy and love. Some of her happiest times were spent surrounded by friends and family, their laughter echoing through the house as they celebrated each touchdown together. She poured her soul into those moments, creating memories that will live on forever.
Her dedication to her work was unmatched, she worked for Wyoming Behavioral Institute for almost 20 years. She later joined Dr. Browns Office rising from clerical work, to becoming business manager over 17 years. In 2019, she had to regretfully depart her position to focus on her health. Her work was key in her life but it never outshined the pride she took in her home, her plants, and the sprawling branches of her family tree.
She was the glue, the gardener, the giggler—always ready with quick, playful banter that could turn any ordinary day into something unforgettable.
She didn’t just live—she bloomed.
Susan passed away September 17th 2025 surrounded by her adoring family and friends.
Susan is survived by her children Layne Kihle, Brandon Kihle, and Matthew Kihle; her brother Brad (Theresa) Heide; her sisters Kelly Heide, Kimberly Heide (Dean) Moore, and Candace Kihle; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Uncle Dan Heide and Aunt Merle and Uncle Jimmy Maiwela held a special place in her heart, stepping in as parental figures throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kim Kihle; her parents LeRoy and Lorraine Heide; her in-laws Don and Myrtle Kihle; and her sister-in-law Deanna Sadler (Kihle).
