Susan “Susie” Jane Scholtz, passed away in Casper, Wyoming, on the afternoon of Monday, August 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. Susie was born on September 6, 1957, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Fred Roberts Yeaman and Jane Crowl Yeaman.
As a child, Susie spent time living in various places around Wyoming. Although she called Casper home, she loved making memories with her father Fred (Betty) Yeaman, brothers and sisters at the homestead in the Wind River Canyon, in Togwotee at the family cabin, or other Game and Fish cabins around the state. During her childhood she gained an appreciation of arts and crafts, as well as playing music from her mother.
When she was a young adult, Susie was a homemaker and an aerobics instructor. Later, she worked at the Check Cashing Center and I-Reach locations in Casper, and eventually became a Safety Coordinator, overseeing pipeline projects and at power plants across the country.
Susie was a free spirit who lived a life with joy and spontaneity. She could often be found at live music events, sinking shots at the pool table, or on the back of the love of her life Cal’s motorcycle. She brought light and laughter wherever she went. She found peace and happiness snowbirding in Arizona, traveling hand-in-hand with Cal, making memories with her sister Cathy, and cherishing quiet moments at home in Casper. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, often spoiling them or enjoying a special outing. Susie’s life was a tapestry of adventure, love, and resilience—a story that will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
Towards the end of her life, for nearly nine years, Susie faced stage 4 gallbladder cancer with extraordinary courage. Her journey was nothing short of miraculous—defying the odds with a fierce will to live and a heart full of hope. Her spirit lives on in the music she loved, the laughter she shared, and the strength she showed us all.
Susie was survived by the love of her life Calvin Spurrier, and her children Emilee Wilm (Ryan), Heather Bender (Kyle), Christopher Scholtz (Kathryn), and Leah Jones (David); grandchildren Mason, Skylar, Weston, Wyatt, Camielle, Brendan, Andrue and Kaleigh; sisters Cathy Fairbanks and Muggs Lewis; and brothers Kevin Yeaman, Jake Yeaman, and Tod Yeaman.
A celebration of life will take place October 17th, 2025 at 6 pm at the Pumphouse in Casper, WY.
