Timothy E. Bachmeier, 73, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Monday, October 6, 2025.

Timothy Eugene Bachmeier- born on June 16th, 1952, to Elton E. and Phyllis Jane (Ritter) Bachmeier in Mobridge, South Dakota. Nine months and ten days after Tim was born, his sister Twyla came onto the scene. Then along came Tamra, Trina, Teresa, and Tonia. Tim was fiercely protective of his Mom and sisters, sometimes, when they didn’t quite need him to be. When he was around 16, he moved to Casper, Wyoming. Tim was diagnosed with Reiter’s Syndrome as a teenager, although he knew it would be difficult, he did not let that stop him from becoming an Ironworker. He was indentured as an Ironworker apprentice in June of 1970. Tim married Sandra Lee Poole in 1976, gaining a son, Justin Jacob. In 1977, Amber Dawn arrived, and in 1980, the baby, Krystin Kaye (Katie), was born. He became injured in the Eagle Butte Coal mine in 1978, when a plate fell on his back in the underground beltway. After several attempts to return to work, Tim was granted honorary membership as an Ironworker in 1987. For many years, Tim was the stay-at-home parent. His children remember sandwiches with the first bite missing (he had to make sure he didn’t poison them), chili and cinnamon rolls on the first day of snow, and homemade root beer.

As a young man, Tim “Shot Glass” Bachmeier had a CB radio in his GMC Sierra pickup. This led to an interest in HAM radio. His first call sign was WB7DBS. He’d say WB7 D BS, the D stands alone, and the BS speaks for itself. Later, he became AB7BJ, “ The voice of Studio B, Wyoming.” He participated in field days, Cowboy NET check-ins, and on Sunday morning, the Races NET check-ins. Over the years, he and his HAM friends had provided communications for the Casper Classic Bike Race, chased many storms around Natrona County, an earthquake in California, helped in missing-persons searches, and so much more. He was very proud of being a HAM.

Tim was a proud member of both the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #306. He enjoyed music and could be known to “re-write” the words to a favorite song to fit a situation in his life, then sing it for friends and family. On Sunday’s Tim would call the local radio station in Mobridge, SD and to request songs for his Mom and sisters.

Tim enjoyed being a Grandpa most of all. He was very proud that Noah became a welder. He would call KyLee and Carter, and also his Mom Phyllis, each night to pray: Lord Jesus, watch over our angels, watch over our family, forgive us for our sins, and come into our hearts and show us the pathway to you. Tim would call Dylan every night to sing Jesus Loves You to her. It was widely known in her circle that Papa was calling, and when her phone would ring, you could hear her friends shushing each other (even on a very noisy athletic bus!) to listen to Papa sing.

Tim is survived by his former wife Sandi Bachmeier, his step-son Justin Young (Staci) and children, all of Casper, his daughters Amber Baier of Casper and Katie Bachmeier of Midwest and Granddaughters KyLee Johnson (Branden, Carter) of Colorado Springs CO, Dylan Osterman of Midwest, Grandson Noah Osterman of Houston Texas, his Mother Phyllis Luce of Mobridge, SD, Stepmother Elizabeth Bachmeier of Wheatland, and brother in law Lyle Fritz, Sisters Tamra Bennett of Mobridge, SD, Trina Lyons (Jerry) of Brandon, SD, Teresa Shillingstand of Erurika, SD, and Tonia Scharberg (Bill) of Casper, and one stepbrother, Bruce Iverson of Wheatland, along with numbers nieces and nephews.

Tim is preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Brayley Nicole, his father, Elton E Bachmeier, his sister Twyla Fritz, stepfather Robert Luce, brothers-in-law Jerry Poole and Pete Poole, in-laws Clarance and Hazel Poole, and grandparents Edward and Pauline Ritter, and John and Anna Bachmeier.
