Timothy Michael “Tim” Casey died peacefully in hospice, surrounded by family, after a battle with cancer on January 15, 2026, in Casper, WY, at the age of 73.
Tim was born in Salina, KS, to George Rea and Mona Marie (Betterson) Casey. He was raised in Dodge City Kansas, graduating in 1970 from Dodge City High School, where he played football and was involved in a Business Education club. On his birthday, he married Rebecca Ann Furrow “Beckie” of Kalispell, MT. The couple welcomed three daughters into their home in Kansas, Caitlin Casey of Casper, WY, and the twins Alissa Casey of Laramie, WY, and Brianna Casey of Santa Clarita, CA.
After moving the family to Casper, WY, Tim worked for Lathrop Equipment (later, Stotz) as a John Deer parts specialist. The family enjoyed the school years in Casper and the outdoor recreation available.
Tim is survived by his wife and daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, older sister Kathryn Casey of Salina, KS, and his younger sister Karen Pepin of Wichita, KS.
Tim learned to love woodworking from his father and briefly worked for a cabinetmaker. Later he made many items with his scroll saw and sold at local craft events. Music meant a lot to him, his favorite singer was John Prine. For a few months in his youth he worked as a roadie for the rock band The Strawberry Alarm Clock, but found he didn’t care for traveling work. He loved gardening and grew some fine tomatoes. He also loved rock hunting and spent happy hours with his family in the Wyoming outdoors. A Bible ministry he was part of took him to Montana, where he met and married Beckie.
Tim didn’t want a funeral, but he did want to share his favorite song, Please Don’t Bury Me by John Prine. The family will have a private scattering of ashes on his birthday, June 15th, in a favorite outdoor area.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions, https://centralwyominghospice.org/. They were so good to Tim and the family during his final days.
