Viola "Vi" May Dickey, a genuine and beloved figure, passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on April 3, 1947, in Buffalo, Wyoming, Vi lived a life rich in accomplishments and was loved by many.
Vi made her mark as the first woman allowed to work in the Salt Creek Oil Field, where she dedicated over 25 years of her life and brought a tenacious spirit to her career. Following this accomplished chapter, she went on to own and operate the Teapot Motor Lodge for many years, a testament to her independent and enterprising nature. Vi was not only a trailblazer in her professional life but also a nurturing presence to her family and friends. Described as independent, no-nonsense, and compassionate.
In her leisure time, Vi cherished activities that brought her joy and fulfillment. She loved playing Bingo, indulging in gambling, crocheting, and gardening. Her passion for flowers was matched only by the serenity she found in long baths accompanied by a good book, fostering a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
Vi leaves behind a loving family who will carry on her memory. She is survived by her daughter, Hope Dickey, and her grandchildren, Rissa Campbell (Joseph), Danielle Neiger (Derek), Chase "Fuzzy" Pfefferle, as well as many great grandchildren. Her siblings, Charles Taylor (Vickie), George Taylor, Linda Hanna (Joe), Susan Nichols, and Barbara Taylor, along with many extended relatives. Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Leona Taylor, and her sisters, Dona and JoAnn.
Her departure from this world marks the end of a remarkable journey and the loss of a courageous woman who embodied love, resilience, and kindness. She was a woman who lived her life with passion and purpose, leaving behind a legacy of strength.
