Faye Elizabeth Box
1931 - 2018

Faye Elizabeth Box (Chaffin) died peacefully in her sleep in Oakes, ND on January 24, 2018. She was 86 years old.

Faye was born September 12, 1931 in Midwest, Wyoming, the fourth of five children of Walter and Pauline Chaffin. After graduating from Midwest High School, Faye attended the University of Wyoming where she played in the drum line for the UW marching band as well as in a dance band with her brother, Cedar. After graduation, she taught for three years in a rural school in Campbell County, Wyoming. She was the secretary at Midwest High School for three years before teaching for four years with the Natrona County School District. After staying home to raise four children, she returned to the educational field, working as an aide at the Wyoming School for the Deaf for 11 years. Faye was involved with TOPS; was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; The Casper Senior Center; and Christ United Methodist Church.

Faye’s total devotion to her late husband of 55 years, Charles “Jack” Box, her kids, family and friends as well as her playfulness, good-natured orneriness and sense of humor will be missed by those who knew her. All who knew her, loved her. She enjoyed multiple crafts, cooking, games of any sort, spoiling her grandkids and great-grandkids, spending time at her cabin in the Bighorns and her winter home in Quartzsite, AZ.

Faye is survived by her four loving children, Charles “Chuck” (Laurie) Box Jr. of Cheyenne, Kelly (John) Andrus of Oakes, ND; Sherri (Rick) Vest of Casper; and Kurt (Jo) Box of Casper, her grandchildren Becky Reif, Molly Box, and Roxanne Woods; Whitney Schuttloffel and Zackary Andrus; Cory and Brendan Vest; and Riley and Ryan Box, and her great-grandchildren Ethan Schuttloffel, Ivy Donnell and Jackson Vest.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery Chapel followed by a gathering at John and Sue Lambrix’s residence, 3621 E. 22nd St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Research Hospital, Kelly Walsh High School Band Program, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
