Robert L. Schierkolk, "Shirk", 70 of Casper, passed away November 5, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Robert was born July 12, 1945, in Trinadad, CO at St. Elizabeth Hospital, to Paul and Emilie (Miller) Schierkolk. The eldest of 6 children raised in Powell, WY. He graduated from Powell High School in 1963. He met his wife, Pamela Jean Schell, in the summer of 1978 and they were married April 5, 1980, at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Casper, WY.

As a child and teenager he was active in 4-H and FFA where he raised sheep and swine. He was also awarded a John Deer Model H tractor for Farm Mechanics in FFA. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966, where he spent 1 year, 10 months at sea during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1968 due to a back injury. After his discharge he lived in Alameda, CA where he worked for 2 small iron businesses before moving back to WY in 1976, where he started his own iron business.

In the late 1970's he became a driving force and one of the founding fathers of the Casper Speedway, for which he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. He and his wife, Pam, started the business of Shrik's Enterprises in October 1984 and have turned it into a thriving business that still stands today.

His one true passion, aside from his family, was auto racing and owning a successful Dirt Late Model team that toured the country and won many championships including two national championships in which he was awarded Crew Chief of the Year in 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Schierkolk, of 35 years; sons, Jason (Janel) Schierkolk, Robert (Mary) Crowe and CJ (Wendy) Crowe; siblings, Doris (Gene) Anderson, Lois (Chuck) Monpas, Mike Schierkolk, Lowell (Marsha) Schierkolk and Connie (Zeke) Zielinski; Grandchildren, Chayse and Nathan Schierkolk, Cody and Jake Crowe, Brittany Border and Kellie Crowe; great-grandchildren, Angel Perez and Zoey Wilburn and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emilie Schierkolk and Grandaughter, Izabelle Schierkolk.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel, interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with Military Honors.
