Lucille "Liz" Read
1925 - 2019

Lucille "Liz" Read, 93, a Casper native passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Lucille was born December 14, 1925, to Frank and Veronica Pavelka, and was one of 11 siblings.

She attended school in Casper where she met Roy Read, her future husband. At the end of WWII, Roy and Liz were married at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church on June 19, 1945. The couple then relocated to Norman, Oklahoma and returned to Casper in 1948. They then built and settled into their new home in Allendale.

She supported and enjoyed her children’s successes, extensive rock collecting, and both Liz and Roy enjoyed traveling with their travel trailer throughout the country and Canada.

Liz and Roy raised seven children, Roy Read and wife Janet of Casper, Mary Pyeatte and husband Charlie of Chandler, AZ, Dave Read and wife Janice of Cheyenne, Lisa Read of Casper, Matt Read of Casa Grande, AZ, Lucille Collins and husband Mike of Flagstaff, AZ, Vanessa Larsen and husband Don of Gilbert, AZ; they had 14 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, nine of her siblings, and one great grandchild. She is survived by one sister, Roselee (Pavelka) Day of Casper.

During Liz and Roy’s near 64 years of marriage she was very actively involved in the Catholic Church, 4-H, and Girl Scouts. During the 50’s and 60’s Liz and Roy were foster parents to many of Natrona County’s Youth.

Visitation will be 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM, Monday, January 14, 2019 at Newcomer Casper Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
